Anaar Block Kaantha Scarf - Grey
Hand-done kantha stitch on cotton organically dyed, hand-blocked scarf by Afghan Refugees
Block printed by hand with natural and vegetable dyes with hand-carved blocks and then finished by hand stitching two scarves together with a fine running (kantha) stitch. The entire production process is manual - producers design on paper, print with wooden blocks, and dye in small batches – just as it has been done for centuries in the subcontinent. Afghan women excel in the running stitch which is used in traditional quilt work and meticulously bind two fabrics together and then hand finish it.
Made by producers in Bhit Shah and Refugees' community in Karachi
